5/5 Rosé Comparison – Blind Tasting Buddies

Wine Tasting, Sunday May 5th, 2024, Seattle

Wines:

Sparkling Rosé

  • NV15 Bonnet-Ponson Extra Brut Rosé Cuvée Perpétuelle Champagne, FR 750mL

Still Rosé

  • 2021 Frank Cornelissen Terre Siciliane Rosato Susucaru Sicily, IT 750mL
  • 2011 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Rosado Viña Tondonia La Rioja, ES 750mL
  • 2021 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé Provence, FR 750mL
  • 2009 Domaine Tempier Bandol Blanc (not rosé oops) Provence, FR 750mL
    • The dark / orangey hue of the Tempier 2009 inferred a rosé, but later upon close inspection, the label did indicate “white Bandol wine” in the corner. Still a tasty treat!

Dessert Rosé

  • 2011 Alois Kracher Rosenmuskateller TBA #2 Nouvelle Vague Burgenland, AT 375mL

Pink wines are a seasonal favorite, prized for their colorful appeal during sunny months. We love rosé all year round, but since the warm weather is approaching, the theme is apt as ever. Naming variations include rosé, rosato, or rosado, based on the regional language of origin. We will explore examples made from varies grape varieties and production methods, including some of the most “collectible” pink wines found on the market today.
